Are animals and wildlife Madagascar's only tourist attractions?

No. It is full of general interest, being a large country with varying landscape. It has wonderful coastal resorts, great natural beauty and a people with a fascinating local culture. Among things which I have appreciated and enjoyed are local music and folklore (group story telling is one of their specialities); the Arab fascination of Majunga on the west coast; the enormous street market in Antananarivo known as the Zoma, because on Fridays (';Zoma';) it is biggest of all; the spectacular beauty of Nosy B茅; the thermal resort of Antsirabe (where you are expected, as in Majunga to use a rickshaw or ';pousse pousse'; to support local industry); the local cuisine and the general interest of a lovely, friendly people with an ancient culture. I would recommend the royal palaces, but sadly they were burned down by arsonists a few years back. Go and see for yourself what fun it all is!Are animals and wildlife Madagascar's only tourist attractions?

Don't miss out on the native festivals in which families dig up the remains of their departed and throw a party.
