What are the paintballs made out of? Are they safe for fish and wildlife?

Paintballs contain primarily polyethylene glycol, other non-toxic and water-soluble substances, and dye. Paintballs are made of materials found in food and are edible.What are the paintballs made out of? Are they safe for fish and wildlife?
They are suppossedly non-toxic and safe to the environment..however it is not safe for fish, wildlife and birds, when the paintballers shoot directly at them,or when they knock down or crush birds nests while running around, and dragging mattresses, boards, and other junk/waste to build fortresses in pristine wildlife areas. Can you tell I am not a big paintball fan.What are the paintballs made out of? Are they safe for fish and wildlife?
