What other regions of the world have experienced deforestation and wildlife extinction?

i know the the rain forest is one and so is africa are their any others. I am a first year science student. What are the cause of theseWhat other regions of the world have experienced deforestation and wildlife extinction?
You should look into what happened at Chaco Canyon in New Mexico

From Wikipedia .........

';Between AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon was a major center of culture for the Ancient Pueblo Peoples.[伪] Chacoans quarried sandstone blocks and hauled timber from great distances, assembling fifteen major complexes which remained the largest buildings in North America until the 19th century.[1][2]';

Due to drought deforestation and over hunting the Anasazi people who had built a remarkable place completely vanashed in as short a time span as 50 years

a good place to start is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaco_Cultu鈥?/a>What other regions of the world have experienced deforestation and wildlife extinction?
everywhere where there are or where forrests and wild life

Madagascar a botanic paradise is now destroyed

the exotic animals sold or killed ,the forest slash and burned for agriculture ,the coastal water poluted by topsoils washed fronm the denuded moutains by the rains.

many many countries in Africa (because of poverty and war as well as greedy farming )

Borneo because of the expensive timber

india ,China ,Mexico ,South Americas Amazonia,

Europe because of civilization,USA,Japan because of overpopulation,

you name it if they had lots of it ,they also lost a lot ,some places ALL.
the philippines.the growth of human population are uncontolable so the same happen to the destruction of the forest due the increasing demand for wood and charcoals.
Australia has the highest rate of species extinction in the world... this is mainly down to:

1. habitat destruction: landclearing for agriculture, mining and urban sprawl, logging for timber

2. invasive species: particularly predation by foxes and cats, habitat loss and damage by feral pigs and poisoning by eating cane toads.
