Why is it that nobody seems to care about the environment or wildlife conservation anymore?

They care some, but not as much as they did 30 years ago. I can think of three reasons.

The big in your face problems (air that smelled and obscured views, water that smelled and fish died in) have largely been eliminated. The problems that we have (global warming, loss of ecosystems such as the rain forest) are more subtle.

We've become more greedy. Caring about the environment costs money.

We've become more divided and selfish. ';Being an American'; doesn't mean at all what it used to except for some subgroups, like our brave military people. Why is it that nobody seems to care about the environment or wildlife conservation anymore?
Never before in the history of the human race have we been so concerned about the environment and the wildlife it contains. There are new national parks and preserves set up in africa and asia every few days. Now if only we respected the environment like native americans did before the white devil....hahaWhy is it that nobody seems to care about the environment or wildlife conservation anymore?
I care. Lots of people care. Reach out and find like minded people and band together to work on some specific cause that YOU care about. Think in terms of what you can do, and not in terms of what everyone else is doing. Make your own statement! Good luck.
People have been so careful about cleaning up the Potomac river and promoting wildlife that wild animal feces are now the main pollutant.
I don't know. people just care about themselves and that is it. Life is a cycle, we should care for everybody, everything is a stable cycle that if the stability is broken we can be affected in a certain way, you never know. People are just to selfish. they don't care.
I don't know but it is very sad, I wish there was a way to make people care, it doesn't seem like people are smart enough to realize the effects of ignorance and carelessness combined.
Because they work 12 hours a day and then just want to put their feet up and watch TV. They seem to have more pressing obligations like their childrens falling grades and repairs on a door that have not been done yet because no one has the time nor the energy.
Isn't that a rather broad, sweeping question? Nobody cares? That must mean that you don't care either. What have you done for the environment lately. Can you say 'Greenpeace'. I think you ought to pay more attention to what's going on in the world.
I think that many people do care about the environment and we are doing more, and more now-a-days to educate people about the environment.

What I find sad, working in the environmental field, is that many people tell me that they care about the environment, but then want a permit to destory a lake, river or wetland in their backyard.

We need to all do our part to protect the environment and we need governments (townships, counties, cities, states, federal) to invest in more green space and conserve it for future generations!
