I'm a highschool student interested in this career and I have no idea where to start. Can anyone help me please? Is anyone an ethologist/wildlife biologist/ majoring in ethology/know anyone doing so?
I work as a wildlife biologist who specializes in ornithology. However my degree is in zoology. First you would need to find a good college and then start school. I suggest you start doing some hands-on work while still in school in the form of volunteer work, internships, or working with a professor on campus doing research in your field. This type of work usually requires more than a degee..experience counts for a lot as well and will make it easier for you to find a job when the time comes. Is anyone an ethologist/wildlife biologist/ majoring in ethology/know anyone doing so?
Wildlife biology programs are fairly common. Some of the best are in Virginia, Maine, and Colorado State, but there are many. In general, to get into wildlife biology, you'd get a BS degree. Ethology would more likely be associated with Biology. In short, I'd suggest learning as much as you can about the field, and then off to school.
